The Wall
In 2023 I moved from London to the south coast. On arrival I picked up a seagull feather that was lying by the front door and brought it inside. Over the next few months, while I waited for various builders and workmen to arrive, I used this feather, dipped in my morning cup of tea, and a black pen to capture in my sketchbook what was happening outside my living room.
Opposite is a tall wall made of cobblestones, brick and flints, a construction known as Brighton Bungaroosh. As well as being fascinated by the wall, I also became interested in the various passers by, which included a school run, various workmen, people on their way to the shops or the park. A little imagination at times too.
I finished the sketchbook just as the essential work on the house was completed, having created 50 drawings. As I wish to keep the sketchbook intact, I have made some of these drawings available as high quality giclee prints on 310gsm Hahnemuhle German Etching paper limited to an edition of 50.
